Michael started his career in banking 36 years ago as a Real Estate Appraiser at First Federal Savings Bank of America, now Webster Bank. He later joined BankFive as an Appraisal Specialist and moved up the ranks to his current role of Assistant Vice President, Appraisal Manager.
Part of Michael’s current day-to-day involves overseeing the valuation and appraising of both residential and commercial properties to determine if they meet necessary standards before a loan is extended.
As a resident of Somerset, Michael is very familiar with the South Coast area he serves. He also holds a master’s degree in managerial technology from Johnson & Wales University, as well as a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and an associate’s degree from Bristol Community College.
Michael is a superb example of BankFive’s mission to give back to our local neighborhoods. Outside of work, Michael enjoys volunteering with several local service organizations. “It provides fulfillment to help people in need,” he says. He currently volunteers with Junior Achievement of Southeastern Massachusetts, the Somerset Lions Club, and the United Way of Greater Fall River.
In 2018, he received the John S. Brayton Community Service Award from the Bristol County Chamber of Commerce. This award pays tribute to individuals who give their time and expertise, and go above and beyond, to contribute to the local community.
As a hands-on worker, Michael says if he wasn’t in the banking industry he would likely be working in a trade field such as carpentry. We’re lucky he stuck with banking and can use his wealth of expertise and experience to help our customers!
The best part of working at BankFive for Michael? “Being able to work alongside others who have positive attitudes. This makes for a great working environment.”
