Peter T. Kavanaugh
President, Kavanaugh Development
Peter T. Kavanaugh has been the President and Owner of Kavanaugh Development, which builds and manages commercial real estate on Massachusetts’ South Coast, since 1986. In 2009 he became the President and Owner of Brownell Boat Stands, a manufacturer of boatyard storage equipment made in Mattapoisett, MA and sold worldwide.
In addition to his work on the BankFive Board of Directors, Peter has served in many roles in the South Coast community, including the Executive Committee of the New Bedford Industrial Foundation. He is a past President, member of the Board, and National Park Committee Chairman of the Waterfront Historic Area League (WHALe). Peter chaired the Dartmouth High School Building Committee, served as Co-Chair of the SouthCoast Development Partnership, and was a member of the Board of the New Bedford Economic Development Council.
Peter was named the New Bedford Standard-Times “Man of the Year” in 1999. He was also inducted into the Greater New Bedford Chamber of Commerce's Business Hall of Fame.
Peter is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island. While at URI, he was captain of the sailing team, leading his team to two national championships. He and his family reside in Dartmouth.
Peter chairs the Technology Committee and serves as a member of both the Audit, Nominating & Governance Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee. Peter’s son Alex Kavanaugh joined BankFive as a Corporator in 2021.
