Greg Cambio brings extensive knowledge and experience to his role as Bank Five’s First Vice President, Residential Lending Manager – 40 years’ worth of experience to be exact. Joining the BankFive team almost 4 years ago, Greg has worked in the Residential Lending departments of Homestar Mortgage, Berkshire Bank/First Choice Loan Services, Shamrock Financial, and was the Regional Vice President with Chemical Bank, now Chase, throughout his career.
In his current role, Greg is responsible for managing and assisting Bank Five’s Residential Lending team, with the end goal of helping customers obtain their dreams of homeownership. He also helps to ensure that BankFive abides by all state and federal lending laws and regulations.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Greg has been working out of his home office in Johnston, RI – something he’s been thankful for in light of the extremely hectic housing market of the past two years. Greg also provides invaluable guidance as the Treasurer of three non-profit organizations: Worldwide Marriage Encounter, Secret Angels Society, and Little Flower Home, which his wife of 42 years, Donna, also assists with.
Greg attended Rhode Island College and holds several underwriting certifications. He is also a member of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Mortgage Bankers Associations.
When work is done for the day, Greg’s main passion is musical performance. He is both a professional saxophonist and percussionist. “Prior to my involvement in Banking and Mortgage Lending, I travelled on the road for a number of years performing with a dance and show band. He had an opportunity to work with Lou Rawls in NY. I currently perform with a number of musical projects, one being Hey 19, a tribute to Steely Dan, as well as other projects including an original rock band and many wedding bands,” he says. Of course, he cannot forget trying to visit his three grandchildren and son, Senior Master Sargent in US Air Force, in Maryland as much as he can.
Given this, it’s no surprise that Greg says if he weren’t in the banking industry, he would be a full-time musician. Lucky for us, he’s a full-time banker instead. Greg says his favorite part of working at BankFive is “the sense of community and respect for employees. It is not an act. The respect is real, and the actions of the bank and senior management prove that every day.”
