Fall River-based community bank, BankFive, and the SouthCoast Community Foundation today announced it is accepting applications for the 2024 President’s Scholarship Fund. The $1.2 million scholarship fund was established to honor the memory of past presidents & CEOs of BankFive.
BankFive and its leadership value the importance education plays in an individual’s career. “BankFive is proud to continue this relationship with SouthCoast Community Foundation, and to honor the Bank’s past presidents and CEOs,” said BankFive CEO Anne P. Tangen. “This scholarship program is an important opportunity for us to support area youth as they pursue a college education and successful careers.”
“BankFive's scholarship fund, in partnership with the Community Foundation, is a life-changing opportunity for students from Bristol County and Rhode Island,” said Dr. Melanie Edwards-Tavares, SouthCoast Community Foundation President and CEO. “The scholarship supports a student for all four years of their college career, making degree completion more attainable. We believe postsecondary education is a path to increased economic mobility, and scholarships are vital to our education strategy. We are proud to have BankFive join us in supporting students by investing in their future.”
The fund, which was established last year, provides a four-year scholarship to one or more graduating senior(s) from Bristol County, MA and Bristol and Newport Counties, RI, while attending an accredited college or university. This scholarship is awarded with consideration of either academic achievement or financial need. The scholarship is renewable each year that the student is enrolled full-time and meets eligibility requirements.
Scholarships are available through a Universal Application, which can be found here. This automatically pairs eligible students with all available scholarships.
