BankFive, a community bank with 18 locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, today announced that its First Vice President of Credit Administration, Allison Pereira, has been appointed to the board of Citizens for Citizens, Inc. (CFC), the Massachusetts Community Action Agency that assists over 30,000 individuals in the Greater Fall River and Taunton areas each year. The nonprofit's mission is to advocate on behalf of low-income residents and address the causes and effects of poverty through the provision of direct and integrated services, the promotion of self-sufficiency, and the advancement of social change.
“We at CFC are excited to welcome Allison Pereira to our board of directors,” said Liz Berube, Executive Director of CFC. “ We're grateful to have had a long standing, cherished relationship with BankFive and we look forward to continuing our shared work with Allison in ensuring our community members are supported and thriving.”
Since 1965, CFC has offered assistance and hope to Southeastern Massachusetts individuals and families living in poverty, providing short and long-term services that empower individuals with the tools necessary to overcome the burdens of poverty and financial hardships while fostering self-sufficiency.
BankFive has an established partnership with CFC, and has supported their food pantry in various ways, including volunteerism and donating food and funds. Many BankFive employees have participated in CFC’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which trains volunteers to assist individuals with filing their taxes while also providing financial literacy and resources.
“Allison is an exceptional leader with great passion for serving her community,” said BankFive President and CEO Anne P. Tangen. “Her dedication to making a positive impact, combined with her strategic vision and leadership skills, makes her the perfect fit for this role. We are excited to see the impact she will have on CFC and its mission.”
A Swansea resident, Allison has been with BankFive since 2004, and is a highly valued member of the team, serving on the Credit Committee, Loan Review Committee, Change Management Committee, and Executive Committee. She holds a MBA degree in Business Administration and a BS degree in Accounting from UMass Dartmouth, and is also a graduate of the management program at Babson and a 2019 graduate of Leadership SouthCoast.
“I am honored to be a part of CFC,” said Pereira. “It is such an inspiring organization that helps to improve the economic situation of individuals and families in need. It’s wonderful to serve alongside such an incredible group of officers and directors.”
