A donation of $10,000 has been made to the Community Connections in support of their work with the Flower Angels program. Community Connections’ clients from the South Yarmouth program help the Flower Angels by bringing flowers to their workshop and participating in deliveries to Cape Cod nursing homes. Flower Angels has benefited greatly from the kindness of others, including floral partners such as Trader Joe’s and Shaw’s Supermarkets as well as many brides and event planners who donate wedding flowers for repurposing into arrangements for nursing home residents.
YMCA Cape Cod is an inclusive organization of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. During the pandemic the YMCA offered emergency child care programs to essential workers. They also partnered with the Barnstable School department and converted a Y space into a Barnstable Public Schools virtual learning classroom and created the Y LEAVES (Licensed Essential Academic Virtual Education Support) Program, which offers a safe learning space for students in Barnstable schools. The YMCA Cape Cod continues to support the community and furthering collaborative leadership in the areas of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. A donation of $10,000 from BankFive is to support the core programs and services offered through the YMCA.
“Community Connections, Inc. and YMCA Cape Cod are dynamic organizations that find creative ways to achieve their missions during challenging times,” said Anne P. Tangen, President and CEO of BankFive. “We are thrilled to support the work they do and contribute to the impact they have on the Cape Cod community.”
