BankFive, a community bank with locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, today announced the promotion of Christina D. Johnk as Chief Human Resources Officer.
A Warwick, Rhode Island resident, Christina will oversee all aspects of the Bank’s human resources operations, including recruitment, performance management, talent and succession planning.
Christina, who is also a Senior Vice President at the bank, has nearly 20 years of experience in Human Resources, having worked at CVS, Stop & Shop, Landmark Medical Center, and Encore Fire Protection. She received her master’s degree in Human Resources from Southern New Hampshire University.
“Christina brings energy and passion to her role and has implemented a number of new traditions that will continue at the bank,” said Anne P. Tangen, President and CEO of BankFive. “She embodies our values of giving back to the community - inside and outside the bank - creating engaging connections with our employees and the community.”
She is a Board Member at United Way of Fall River and the Fall River Historical Society. Christina is also a member of the Rotary Club, and is a former Board President of the Rhode Island Homeless Shelter.
Christina spearheaded employee engagement surveys, which led to the bank being honored as one of the “Best Places to Work” in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, as ranked by the Boston Business Journal and Providence Business News.
She is a dynamic leader, moving quickly to address issues and implement new standards, never satisfied with the status quo. She has spearheaded the bank’s succession planning initiatives, its talent and compensation review, and she keeps abreast of the changing needs and expectations of our employee base. Christina and her team monitor the changing legal requirements related to human resources, and ensure the bank will remain an employer of choice for years to come.
“I am honored that the Board has elevated me to this position,” Christina said. “I am inspired everyday by BankFive’s mission of serving its customers and its communities. I look forward to continuing to work with - and expand - this vibrant team in this incredible community.”
