BankFive’s FVP, Director of Marketing Programs & Community Relations Andrea Amaral Rodrigues was recognized with UMass Dartmouth’s 2023 Alumni Volunteer Service Award at their 50th Anniversary Awards event on April 26th, 2023. In the event's program book UMass wrote:
"Andrea Amaral Rodrigues ’04, MBA ’05 discovered her true calling was to serve in local communities. As a marketing professional, Rodrigues combines her financial expertise with her passion for charitable giving to make an impact on the SouthCoast region.
Rodrigues joined BankFive in 2009 and worked as a marketing specialist, banking officer, assistant vice president and marketing manager. Currently, she is their first vice president, director of marketing programs and community relations. She serves of chair of the BankFive Charitable Giving program and oversee the Bank’s Foundation and the BankFive President’s Scholarship Fund at the SouthCoast Community Foundation. She is also a corporator and member of the grants distribution, arts advisory, and scholarship committees.
Within her first year at BankFive, Rodrigues served as a loaned executive for the United Way of Greater New Bedford, offering her industry services to non-profit organizations in hopes of making a difference. She has volunteered on campaign cabinets within the organization and was a citizen reviewer for their respective grant programs.
Currently, Rodrigues is a proud member of their Women United initiative, which promotes growth and change in childhood development and literacy. She volunteers with Baby Bundles, a program that provides single mothers with necessary supplies. She includes her own daughter in this volunteer opportunity, hoping to instill a sense of service in her as well.
Motherhood made Rodrigues a fierce advocate for early childhood development. Through Women United, she supported the Wash-and-Read program which collects books to put in laundromats for children to read, placing an emphasis on childhood learning. With limited space in preschool classrooms, Rodrigues is on the steering committee for Fall River’s People Incorporated, which is currently raising capital funds for a state-of-the-art preschool in hopes of improving the city’s early childhood education.
In December 2021, Rodrigues was names the John Brayton Jr. Memorial Community Service Award recipient for going above and beyond in the local community. This award is presented to individuals who exhibit outstanding excellence, leadership, and creativity in their personal and professional lives."
