William H. Lapointe, President of The Lapointe Insurance Agency, has been named Vice-Chair of BankFive. Lapointe who has served on the Bank’s Board of Directors since 2001 and its Executive Committee since 2010 was unanimously voted Vice-Chair, a precursor to Chairman, a role he is expected to assume in 2022.
Current Chairman Richard L. Lafrance said, “Bill is an excellent choice for Vice-Chair, he is an active and interested board member who brings business acumen and insightful discussion to our meetings. He has a great understanding of finance, consumer needs, and management. Along with his strong ties to the SouthCoast community, I know Bill will continue to support the Bank’s mission of using our experience, innovation and collaboration in service to our customers, employees, and community."
Lapointe has held leadership roles in his time on BankFive’s Board including as the former Chair of the Risk Management Committee and current Chair of the Talent and Compensation Committee.
Lapointe has a deep concern for his community as evidenced by his philanthropic efforts to support organizations such as United Way and Catholic Charities. He is a former Board Chairman of Charlton Memorial Health (now SouthCoast Health), former President of the YMCA, and immediate past President of Stevens Treatment Programs.
